Letter to Florida Governor Crist falls on Deaf Ears…

The below email exchanges took place between a resident of Florida and the Governor’s office.  Obviously the staffer could care less. Therefore Governor Crist cares about the same level and is willing to dance and bark like a toy poodle at the dog show to his master, Mr. DC

Subject: I am a xxxx county resident concerned about the Florida taking the stimulus money…

 Governor Crist,

I have never contacted this office before, not even under Gov. Bush. Thank you for giving me a few minutes of your busy time.  Before the Florida takes any of the Stimulus money, please see this article from COX Radio reporter Jamie Dupree. The article speaks for itself.   Please heavily weigh any consideration before taking money from Mr. Obama, Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Reid.  It is a shame what they have done to our country.

Sincerely,

Note: I am replacing the reporter’s (Dupree) references of the ffictitious governor and state with you and Florida for effect. Please see the original article when you are finished.
Relevant portion of the article:

“Sec. 1607. (a) Certification by Governor.–Not later than 45 days after the date of enactment of this Act, for funds provided to any State or agency thereof, the Governor of the State shall certify that: (1) the State will request and use funds provided by this Act; and (2) the funds will be used to create jobs and promote economic growth.

Dupree: In other words, let’s say you have Republican Governor Crist in your state of Florida, who hasn’t been exactly supportive of the plan approved by Congressional Democrats. Governor Chist is going to have to send Congress a note saying, “Yep, I want yer damn money.”

I can write this story with my eyes closed.

“Governor Charlie Crist, who repeatedly said Democrats were a bunch of fools for approving a stimulus bill loaded billions in wasteful spending, yesterday told the Congress he wants Florida to get its share of that money. “It’s about time that Governor Crist figured out what the people of Florida want,” said Democratic state Rep. Rip N. Bashem. “And if jobs aren’t produced with that money, we’ll know who to blame, since Governor Crist is the one responsible for assuring state taxpayers that the money will be used to quote ‘create jobs and promote economic growth,’” Bashem added.

The Democrats will have a field day with that.

And they made sure there’s even another way to get money to a state, just in case a Governor decided that he wouldn’t ask for any stimulus cash.
“(b) Acceptance by State Legislature.–If funds provided to any State in any division of this Act are not accepted for use by the Governor, then acceptance by the State legislature, by means of the adoption of a concurrent resolution, shall be sufficient to provide funding to such State.”

In other words, if Governor Crist says ‘no thanks,’ the state legislature could accept the money with a simple majority vote in favor of a legislative resolution. The money would then be sent directly to local governments.

Jennifer,

Could you actually assure me that Gov. Crist will actually read my email?  It  is important that the Governor know that particular section I outlined.  Please assure me he is well aware of the consequences of accepting this any money from this bill.

Please, please, please let me know if the Governor is aware of this particular passage of the bill. I kindly and anxiously await your personal reply.

BTW: Please do not reply with another standard form letter as it is very impersonal and says a lot about the person and the person who is being represented.

Thank you so much,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
